Norwegian Ambassador to Cairo: Gaza is part of Palestine and we reject the displacement of the Palestinian people

Norwegian Ambassador to Cairo, Hilde Klemetsdal, stressed during a symposium hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, her country's position rejecting the displacement of Palestinians, stressing that "Gaza is part of the land of Palestine", in response to the recent statements of former US President Donald Trump.

The ambassador explained that Norway supports the two-state solution and rejects any attempts to force Palestinians to leave their lands, stressing that a political solution is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace. She also praised the Egyptian role in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, stressing the need for continued international efforts to support the Palestinians and their institutions.

The Norwegian ambassador's statements come amid escalating tensions in the region, where she stressed the importance of all parties adhering to international law and rejecting any violations of the rights of the Palestinian people

The Norwegian ambassador to Cairo, Ms. Hilde Klemtsdal, stressed during a symposium hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, the importance of adhering to international law as a basis for the global order, stressing the need for all countries to respect international rules.

The ambassador revealed that Norway condemns the Israeli violations as it condemns what Hamas did, noting that the suffering in Gaza is "unimaginable", as thousands of Palestinian children and civilians have been killed, in addition to the displacement of hundreds of thousands.

She expressed her appreciation for the Egyptian role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, stressing that a political solution is the only way to achieve a two-state solution, where Palestinians and Israelis live in peace. She also stressed that Norway rejects the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt or Jordan, and supports the continuation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which provides aid to more than 300,000 Palestinian children.

The ambassador stressed that her country will continue to support the Palestinians and their institutions, and explained that humanitarian issues should not be a matter of dispute, noting the need for Israel to abide by international laws.

Regarding the reconstruction of Gaza, she stressed that Norway will contribute to supporting the recovery of the sector, stressing the importance of providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

At the end of her speech, the ambassador praised the Egyptian role in the Sudanese crisis, especially in receiving Sudanese refugees, stressing that the war in Sudan needs media support to shed light on the suffering of the Sudanese people. She also thanked the Egyptian media for its continuous coverage of the Palestinian issue
